Td Signal Test
1. Set mulitmeter to VOLTS AC and measure voltage between engine speed signal test connector and ground. Run engine at idle speed. If meter reads approximately 2.8 volts AC, then the system is ok and the test is complete. If the reading is not approximately 2.8 volts AC, proceed to step 2.
2. Shut off engine and disconnect the ring gear speed sensor connector. Select Ohms on multimeter and check resistance of ring gear speed sensor. If Ohmeter reading is 1.9 ±0.2 kOhm, proceed with step 3. If the Ohmeter reading is not 1.9 ±0.2 kOhm, replace the ring gear speed sensor.
3. Set multimeter to VOLTS AC and measure voltage between the terminals of the ring gear speed sensor. If the meter reads greater than 4 volts AC and the voltage increases with increasing rpm, the sensor tests good and the test is done. If the sensor does not meet the above specifications, check it for dirt accumulation, cleaning or replacing as necessary.
