Fan and fan hood
Remove, install.

Ribbed V-belt
Remove, install

Spring plate (61)
Remove using pin wrench 000 589 00 05 00 and puller 126 589 06 33 00, check gap 0.5 ± 0.15 and correct with shims (62). Tighten to 16 ± 1.0 Nm.

Locking ring (63)
Remove using pliers for locking ring (outside), install.

V-belt pulley (65)
Knock off and on using a plastic mallet, clean friction surface.

Roller bearing (67)
Renew if necessary; to do this, remove/install locking ring (68) and press roller bearing out/in using special tool 126 589 06 43 00.

Locking ring (69)
Remove, install.

Magnetic clutch (71)
Remove, install by opening or closing plug housing on refrigerant compressor.







Special tools







Self-made tool
Bearing drift (lathed part), not required if a lever-operated hand press is used for assembly.


Removing and installing spring plate

Removing
1 Remove fan and fan hood.
2 Release and remove ribbed V-belt.
3 Hold spring plate in place using pin wrench 000 589 00 05 00 and slacken nut.







4 Screw puller 126 589 06 33 00 into spring plate and pull off spring plate.


Installing







5 Push spring plate onto compressor shaft and tighten nut to 16 + 1.0 Nm.







6 Check gap with valve gauge and correct if necessary using shims.
7 Fit ribbed V-belt and tension.
8 Install fan hood and fan.
9 Check function of air conditioning system Testing and Inspection


Removing and Installing V-belt pulley

Removing
1 Remove spring plate.







2 Remove locking ring in front of V-belt pulley (arrow) and tap off V-belt pulley using plastic mallet.







3 Renew roller bearing if necessary. Remove locking ring from roller bearing (arrow).







4 Press out roller bearing using special tools 126 589 06 43 00 (arrows).
5 Press in new roller bearing using special tools 125 589 06 43 00.
6 Install in the reverse sequence.

If the same belt pulley is re-installed, clean the friction surface of the belt pulley. If the friction surface shows signs of damage (e.g. due to overheating), the belt pulley must be renewed together with the spring plate.


7 Check function of air conditioning system Testing and Inspection


Removing and Installing solenoid coil

Removing
1 In vehicles with 6-cylinder engine, remove refrigerant compressor Service and Repair
2 Remove spring plate and V-belt pulley.
3 Disconnect plug from refrigerant compressor.







4 Unscrew both screws (arrows) from plug housing. open plug housing and remove cable (blue).
5 Disconnect ground cable of solenoid coil from refrigerant compressor.







6 Remove locking ring from solenoid coil and take off coil.
7 Install in the reverse sequence.

The solenoid coil must be pushed onto the dowel pin and the tapered surface of the locking ring must point outwards.
