DATE: March 1987 REF. NO. MBNA 54/13

SUBJECT: INSTALLING SEPARATE FUSE FOR BLOWER MOTOR INSTALLING 25 AMP SOLDER TIP FUSES MODELS 124 AND 126 M.Y. 1986

FIGURE 1 - MODEL 124:

FIGURE 2 - MODEL 126:

As of July 1986 production, the fuse for the ACC blower motor was changed from a 25A fuse in the fuse box, to a 30A fuse in an auxiliary fuse holder (arrows, Figures 1 and 2).

For an interim period, the auxiliary fuse was secured to the wiring harness with a cable strap instead of a holder.
Effective Serial Number

Model As of Chassis End No.

124
(except .193) A 292112
124 (.193) F 023505
126 269897

On any 1986 Series 124 or 126 model with a chassis number lower than those listed above, a new solder tip blower fuse must be installed during the next service visit (fuse no. 12, model 124; fuse no. 16, model 126).

Note: Vehicles having the main fuse box cover already marked with a green dot do not have to be checked or modified.

FIGURE 3:

If the lower fuse holder has receded (Figure 3), install a separate fuse holder with 30 amp fuse as described in Work Instructions 205 (Model 124) and 206 (Model 126).

FIGURE 4:

Exchange all 25A fuses with solder tip fuses (Figure 4) the same time that the blower fuse is checked. These fuses have a higher temperature range than the ones without solder tips.

Note: When installing the auxiliary fuse holder for the blower motor, all other 25A fuses including the spare fuses, must also be exchanged with solder tip fuses.

After the modification is complete, mark the main fuse box cover with a green dot.

Submit a warranty claim for parts and labor in the usual manner.
