DATE: March 1988
SUBJECT:
ACCELERATOR PEDAL VIBRATION MODEL 126.125 (300 SDL TURBO)
Vibrations being transmitted to the accelerator pedal can be resolved by installing a modified control shaft in the accelerator linkage assembly. This part replaces the previous version in cases of repair.
Procedure
1. Remove seal strip and upper half of component firewall.
2. Remove connecting rod (203), control shaft and bearing bracket.
3. Assemble new bearing bracket according to Figure 3.
4. Attach bearing bracket to component firewall. Reinstall upper half of firewall and seal strip.
5. Insert new control shaft and secure with cotter pin and to bracket.
6. Attach slotted connecting rod between control shaft and injection pump. (Figure 4).
Checking and Adjusting Control Linkage
With engine off, step on accelerator pedal from inside vehicle until the pedal touches the kickdown switch. The adjustment lever of the injection pump (arrow) must be at full load stop (Figure 5)
Adjust slotted connecting rod, if necessary (Figure 4). Make certain the control linkage operates easily.
Note:
All control linkage bearings as well as ball sockets, with the exception of the connection between the control shaft (9) and the lever (7, Figure 3), should be greased with MB Anti-Corrosion Grease, part no. 000 989 87 51 10 (100g can).
