Testing Function of Automatic Climate Control

This is a function test of the system performed without measuring instruments. If the functions are not correct, further tests with measuring instruments are listed in the text.






Control panel






Settings and functions

1. Defrost:
Selector: Any position
Function key: Defrost
Blower: --

Reference function:
- Blower runs at increased speed
- Air to windshield
- Compressor on
- Maximum heating capacity

Test If incorrect:
Test electrical components of automatic climate control.. If heating capacity is not attained, replace monovalve and/or flush out cooling system.






B Heated air

2. Total ventilation in cooling operation:
Selector: Engaged at MIN
Function key: Total ventilation
Blower: Auto

Reference function:
- Blower runs at increased speed
- Air to windshield, footwells and center
- No heating capacity
- Compressor on

Test If incorrect:
1. Test electrical components of automatic climate control.
2. If flaps fail to open, test vacuum system for flap control.
3. If air is warm, check voltage at monovalve, nominal value> 11 V, replace monovalve if necessary.






A Cooled air

3. Normal letting in cooling operation:
Selector: Engaged at MIN
Function key: Normal setting
Blower: Auto

Reference function:
- Blower runs at increased speed
- Footwell flaps and defroster outlet flaps close
- Air from center and side outlets only
- No heating capacity
- Compressor on

Tests if incorrect:
1. Test electrical components of automatic climate control. Refer to "Function Test of Entire System and Remedies (With Adapter)".
2. If defroster outlet and footwell flaps fail to close, test vacuum system for flap control.






A Cooled air

4. Normal setting in controlled operation:
Selector: Set according to in-car temperature
Function key: Normal setting
Blower: Auto

Reference function:
- Blower speed drops
- Air to footwells and center. and bypass air to windshield
- Heated air outlet. Monovalve cycles at same time and recirculating pump running.
- Compressor on.

Tests if incorrect:
- Test electrical components of automatic climate control.






B Heated air
C Bypass air (warm)

5. Economy in heating operation:
Selector: MAX (engaged)
Function key: EC
Blower: Auto

Reference function:
- Blower speed increases.
- Air to footwells and side outlets only. and bypass air to windshield
- Maximum heating capacity

Test if incorrect:
- Test electrical components of automatic climate control. Refer to "Function Test of Entire System and Remedies (With Adapter)".






B Heated air
C Bypass air (warm)

6. Blower at minimum:
Selector: 22 °C
Function key: Normal setting
Blower: Minimum setting

Reference function:
- Minimum blower speed

Tests if incorrect:
- Test electrical components of automatic climate control (Function Test of Entire System and Remedies (With Adapter), test step 20).

7. Blower at maximum:
Selector: 22 °C
Function key: Normal setting
Blower: Maximum setting

Reference function:
- Maximum blower speed
