SUBJECT: INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL CABLE FOR ENGINE BLOCK HEATER MODEL 126.125
As of model year 1986, all diesel engines are equipped with a factory-installed block heater as standard equipment, however, the electrical cable is not installed. The attached Work Instructions, No. 188, detail the installation of the electrical cable.
A coupon entitling customers to free installation of the electrical cable can be found in the 1986 "Owner's Service and Warranty Policy" booklet.

Subject: INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL CABLE FOR ENGINE BLOCK HEATER MODEL 124
1. Raise the vehicle on a lift and remove the rear encapsulation panel below the engine compartment.

2. Attach electrical cable to block heater (1, Figure 1). Route cable away from exhaust manifold along transmission oil cooler line using plastic straps (2, Figure 1).

3. Continue routing the cable, using plastic straps, past the alternator cooling duct (arrow, Figure 2) and along the alternator wiring harness (arrow, Figure 3).

4. Route remainder of cable along vacuum lines of vacuum amplifier (arrow, Figure 4) and attach to radiator expansion tank hose (arrow, Figure 5).
5. Reinstall encapsulation panel below engine compartment.
