Installing and removing retaining lock for crankshaft gearRetaining lock at oil sump
Take off end cover (2) at rear of oil sump
Unscrew Bolts (1) M6x85
Rotate crankshaft if necessary to allow Retaining lock (3) 601 589 02 40 00 to lock in ring gear.
Bolt on retaining lock (3) (10 Nm).
Note: Attach retaining lock (3) with M6x90 bolts (4) (supplied with part) otherwise in the rear end cover will be damaged.
Retaining lock at starter opening
Insert retaining lock (5) 602 589 00 40 00 into starter opening with starter removed and allow to lock in ring gear; rotate crankshaft if necessary.
Retaining lock at transmission bell housing
Attach retaining lock (6)102589014000 in ring gear with sump removed and transmission flanged on; rotate crankshaft if necessary.
