TO: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS

DATE: December 1988
REF. NO. MBNA 91/14
SUBJECT: REAR ARM REST DOES NOT LOCK IN HORIZONTAL POSITION MODEL 126.04 AND MODEL 126 WITH 4-PLACE SEATING OPTION
Excessive force applied to the arm rest in the downward position when exiting the vehicle from the rear seats, can cause the white plastic guide pins and/or the shaft to shear off.

As of October 1987, a modified rear seat arm rest is installed. The shaft for the arm rest stop was lengthened a total of 4 mm (2 mm on either side).

Shaft length

Previous version: 164.5 mm
Modified version: 168.5 mm

In case of complaints of the arm rest rotating downward beyond the stop position, install the modified version arm rest and guide pins.
