SUBJECT: DOOR ADJUSMENT MODELS 124 AND 201
Doors will open and close smoothly, only when the door and striker eye are correctly adjusted on one another. To make the adjustment process easier and faster, we recommend using centering gauge 124 589 01 21 00 (left), 124 589 02 21 00 (right) and depth gauge 124 589 03 21 00.
Procedure
1. Remove striker eye
2. Loosen the door hinge bolts, or if the hinge is welded, as is the case with the rear door, use door alignment device 124 589 05 27, and properly align the door (see service microfiche Body, Assembly Jobs 1, Model 201, Job Nos. 72-050 and 72-060).
3. Reattach striker eye (hand tighten the bolts).
4. Insert centering gauge into door lock until lock is completely engaged (2nd. notch).
5. Place depth gauge against outer edge of door at striker eye level. Close door until forward point of depth gauge also makes contact.
6. From inside, through an open window, press striker eye into centering gauge and tighten bolts.
7. Open door and remove centering gauge.
