Alarm - Tester to Determine the Cause of False Actuation
87mercedes02TO: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS
DATE: November 1987 REF. NO. 82/42
SUBJECT: ANTI-THEFT ALARM SYSTEM TESTER WITH MEMORY
FIGURE 1:
In order to determine the cause of a false alarm actuation, a tester with memory is now available (Figure 1).. This tester can be used on vehicles equipped with the three-point central locking system.
FIGURE 2:
If the cause for a false alarm actuation of the ATA cannot readily be found, the tester can be connected into the wiring harness at the ATA Control unit (Figure 2).
If the false alarm actuation cannot be produced during the shop visit, the tester can remain in connected while the customer uses the car, requesting that he return to the dealer after another false alarm actuation.
When another false alarm actuation occurs, the activation signal will be stored in the memory of the tester. The cause can then be traced directly to the proper circuit. The LED indicator can be cancelled by clearing the tester's memory.
Each tester comes with complete instructions.
