201 SERIES
The engine and transmission are removed as an assembly.
1. Lift hood to a 90° angle and engage left hand locking lever.
2. Disconnect battery cables and position aside. When disconnecting battery positive cable, also remove rubber protective strip from firewall.
3. Drain cooling system.
4. On diesel engine models, remove engine under cover, then disconnect air hose and remove air cleaner cover.
5. On all models, disconnect upper and lower coolant hoses from radiator.
6. Unfasten fan shroud and position over fan, then remove radiator.
7. On models equipped with A/C, drain refrigerant from system, then disconnect and cap refrigerant lines from compressor.

8. On models equipped with automatic level control, remove pressure oil pump by loosening bolts indicated by arrows, Fig. 3, then position pump aside with oil lines connected.
9. On all models, drain fluid from power steering pump tank, then disconnect hoses from power steering pump.
10. Disconnect accelerator linkage, then all electric, coolant, oil fuel and vacuum lines leading to the engine.
11. On gasoline engine models, remove screws securing test socket to holder, then disconnect TDC transmitter wire from test socket.
12. On all models, remove engine damper attaching screws and the damper.
13. Remove engine stop adjusting bolt, attaching bolts and the stop, if equipped.
14. Disconnect speedometer cable holding strap from link, then disconnect engine ground.
15. On diesel engine models equipped with tachometer, disconnect tachometer cable from bracket on oil pan.
16. On all models, disconnect propeller shaft from transmission and slide back as far as possible.
17. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
18. Remove front exhaust side support attaching nuts and bolts and swivel support downward.
19. Disconnect speedometer cable from transmission.
20. Disconnect hydraulic line between clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder.
21. Disconnect transmission shift rods from shift levers.
22. Attach suitable hoist onto engine lifting points.
23. Remove rear engine mount and carrier.
24. Remove engine carrier attaching bolts from below both front engine mounts.
25. Raise engine and transmission at approximately a 45° angle and remove assembly from vehicle.
26. Reverse procedure to install.
