Testing End Adjusting Vacuum Control Valve
Testing end adjusting vacuum control valve
Test condition
Accelerator control correctly set.
Engine
Warm up to operating temperature.
Vacuum line
Detach, connect vacuum tester (02) 201 589 13 21 00 and test vacuum at idle speed.
Nominal value:
420 ± 25 mbar, vacuum control valve with red or blue colored cap,
385 ± 25 mbar, vacuum control valve with black colored cap.
Engine
Switch off and move accelerator control linkage to full throttle stop. Test vacuum.
Nominal value 0 mbar. If the nominal values are not reached:
a) Check setting of vacuum control valve.
b) Check vacuum lines according to vacuum diagram, test vacuum pump and replace vacuum control valve if necessary.
Hexagon bolts (2)
Slacken. Apply full throttle so that the regulating lever of the injection pump is resting against full load stop.
Vacuum control valve (65)
Turn in direction of arrow until resistance can be felt. Tighten hex. bolts (2) in this position.
Note
- Since July 1984, modified vacuum control valves have been installed, the driver of which is axially suspended.
- A cup seal (4) is installed along with the modified vacuum control valve, to prevent dust and dirt from entering the vacuum control valve. For testing and setting vehicles with engines 601, 602 or 603, the air cleaner and the air guide housing must be removed.
