Governor: Service and Repair






Removing and Installing Centrifugal Governor








Transmission (1)
Lower slightly at rear by removing and installing rear engine mount. Detach and attach exhaust system at rear.

Cover (46)
Press in and remove with snap ring (47), check O-ring (48) and replace if necessary.


Installation Note:
Press cover outwards until it touches the snap ring.

Retaining ring (43)
Push together with pliers and pull cut centrifugal governor (50) as far as possible. Push transmission onto right side and take out centrifugal governor.

Helical gear (41)
Detach by removing retaining ring (40). when installing, the driver pin must engage in the hole in the helical gear.

Control valve
Check for ease of movement.

Special Tool






Removing and Installing:






1. Turn hinged flange so that the centrifugal governor (50) adopts the position shown in the diagram.

2. Align retaining ring (43) until the gap (arrows) is the same at the top and bottom.

3. Compress retaining ring (43) using pliers and pull out centrifugal governor as far as possible.






Installation Note:
Turn bearing ring so that lug (arrow) is pointing downwards.
Attach pliers (072) as shown in the diagram and compress retaining ring (43).
Push transmission to the right and insert centrifugal governor using pressed pliers; the lug (arrow) must be inserted into the slot in the housing.






4. Place a piece of wood against the tunnel (arrow). Push transmission to the right using a crowbar, and take out centrifugal governor.






5. Take off retaining ring (40) and pull off helical gear (41).






Installation Instruction:
Fit on helical gear (41) in such a way that driver pin (arrow) slots into the hole in helical gear.






6. Move flyweight (f), at the same time checking ease of movement of control valve in the openings (arrows).

Note:
It must be possible to move the control valve easily; wash centrifugal governor if necessary, and blow dry. If it is not possible to release control valve in this way, replace centrifugal governor.
In this case, the helical gear (41) from the removed centrifugal governor must be transferred to the new governor.
