A/C - Modified Hose/Pressure Switch

The two topics covered in this S.I. refer to the TEMPMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL MODIFICATIONS service information (MBNA 83/26, May 1988). Please refer back tot his S.I. and W.I.

1. Modified Single-Piece A/C Hose

The two-piece A/C hose assembly mentioned in S.I. MBNA 83/26 did not enter production as of chassis end number F-441505, but rather in March 1988. In the interim (November 1987 to March 1988) a modified one-piece A/C hose was installed on those vehicles. The modified one-piece hose is manufactured from the same improved material as the two-piece hose assembly, and is identifiable by the blue manufacturers writing along the length of the hose.

When inspecting a 190E 2.3 (201.028) after chassis end number F-441505 for completion of the modifications, the modified one-piece hose IS NOT TO BE EXCHANGED for a two-piece assembly.

2. Refrigerant High-Pressure Switch, Auxiliary Fan, 16 Bar (832)

The 16 bar pressure switch mentioned in S.I. 83/26 did not enter production.

On vehicles after chassis end number F-441505, the 20 bar switch IS TO BE EXCHANGED for a 16 bar switch.

Only in cases of continued customer complaints of insufficient air conditioning performance will the individual installation of the 16 bar switch be accepted. The old 20 bar switch is to be red tagged, attention Technical Service.

Installation of the 16 bar switch in accordance with the tempmatic modification service information is still approved.
