Air Door Position Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection

Feedback Potentiometer, Blend Air Flap

1. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROCEDURES

2. Disconnect the 3-pin plug connection (arrow).

Potentiometer Removal:





3a. On vehicles with 1st. version potentiometers, unscrew the three screws and pull the potentiometer (4) from lever (a) of the blend air flaps.

Potentiometer Removal:





3b. On vehicles with 2nd. version potentiometers, unscrew screw (89), and remove nut (75) along with spring (76).

Potentiometer Testing:





4. Connect a suitable ohmmeter between terminal 1 and 2 of the potentiometer, and slowly move the potentiometer lever between stops. The resistance should be approx.:

8 ohms to 4.4±1K ohms, without interruption. If the correct resistance is not obtained, replace the potentiometer.
