Air conditioning system
Drain(recycling).

Lower engine compartment cover
Remove.

Ribbed V-belt
Release and remove.

3-pole connector (A9x)
Disconnect.

Screw (14)
Unscrew, tighten to 23 ± 2.3 Nm.

Holder (8)
Remove, install.

Bolts (7 und 11)
Unscrew, tighten to 23 ± 2.3 Nm and remove refrigerant compressor downwards.

Connections
Seal off with closure plate (a), part no. 601 131 00 21. Before installing a new compressor, slowly release the pressure at the service valve (arrow).

Oil level in refrigerant compressor
Correct. New refrigerant compressors are filled with 120 cc cold-flowing oil.

O-rings (18)
Renew if the refrigerant compressor is not renewed.

Install
In the reverse sequence observing the following points. If the refrigerant compressor is renewed owing to internal damage (e.g. blockage or damage to the valves), the pipe line at the compressor and the expansion valve must also be renewed. Furthermore, check the function and direction of rotation (clockwise) of the auxiliary fan via the 16/20 bar and 100 °C switches.

Receiver dehydrator
Renew. Service and Repair

Air conditioning system
Evacuate and refill.

Air conditioning system
Switch on and run engine at idle speed only for approx. 4 minutes.

Check function and check for leaks Testing and Inspection
Ensure that the air outlet temperature at the center outlets does not drop below +3 °C. Renew evaporator temperature sensor if necessary
