1 Exhaust gas recirculation cooler


Location
The exhaust gas recirculation cooler is located below between the two cylinder heads.

Task
The exhaust gas recirculation cooler cools the fed in exhaust over the exhaust gas recirculation positioner (Y27/17).

Design
The exhaust recycle cooler housing is made of stainless steel and is surrounded by coolant.

The CDI control unit (N3/30) monitors the cooling function of the exhaust gas recirculation cooler with the aid of the exhaust gas recirculation cooler temperature sensor.

Lowering of the temperature produces a higher density of the exhaust gases, without increasing the number of particles. This increases the exhaust gas recirculation rate and the nitrogen oxide (NOX) emission is lowered.
