SI72.20-D-0003A Service information: Rear-end door sealing seam
MODEL 906.6## /7## #A
MODEL 906.6## /7## #E

To avoid consequential damage due to corrosion in the area of the lower rear door hinges, the following should be noted with immediate effect:

In the area of the lower rear door hinges cracks can form in the sealing seam, moisture can penetrate via the crack and cause corrosion.

Before determining whether the door is to be replaced or repaired, the measure of the corrosion must be evaluated.

If no crack is visible or only a small crack/hairline crack (picture 1) is visible, repair the door, as described in SM72.20-D-0009A.

With progressive crazing (picture 2) the sealing seam in this area is to be removed in order to determine the extent of corrosion. With progressive corrosion, which has already extended between the outside door panel and door frame, the rear-end door should be replaced.

Both doors must always be evaluated and repaired or replaced. Pictures of the damage points should be enclosed with the claim and filed in a tamperproof manner.
