GF82.10-P-2114GV Component Description For Xenon Headlamp Control Unit

GF82.10-P-2114GV Component Description For Xenon Headlamp Control Unit

MODEL 251.0 /1
- with CODE (614) Bi-xenon headlamp unit
- with CODE (618) Bi-xenon headlamps as of model year 2011 /YoM 10 model refinement package

E1 Left front headlamp unit
E1n1 Xenon headlamp control unit
E2 Right front headlamp unit
E2n1 Xenon headlamp control unit

Location
One Xenon headlamp control unit is located on the inside of the left front lamp unit and the inside of the right front lamp unit respectively. The xenon headlamp control units are screwed to the housings of the front lamp units. The xenon headlamp control units are connected to the vehicle-side wiring harness via the lamp units.

Task
The xenon headlamp control units work in a master/slave combination and communicate with each other via the engine compartment CAN (CAN-C). As master the xenon headlamp control unit at the left front lamp unit synchronizes the xenon headlamp control unit at the right front lamp unit. The xenon headlamp control units have the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Control of functions
- Actuation of components

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Engine compartment CAN

Direct line
In vehicles without code (488) Steel/air suspension and without code (489) AIRmatic (air suspension with level adjustment and adaptive damping system ADS), the signals of the following sensors are read in by the xenon headlamp control unit at the left front lamp unit via a direct line:
- Right front level sensor (B22/9)
- Right rear level sensor (B22/10)

Engine compartment CAN
The signals are read in by the xenon headlamp control units via the engine compartment CAN. The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Control of functions
The following functions are realized by actuating the appropriate components:
- Low beam
- High beam and headlamp flasher
- Automatic headlamp range adjustment (HRA [LWR])

Actuation of components
Components are actuated with the following connection:

Direct line
Direct line The following components are actuated by the xenon headlamp control unit at the left front lamp unit:
- Left bi-xenon light with integrated ignition module (E1e10)
- Left headlamp range adjustment motor (E1m1)

The following components are actuated by the xenon headlamp control unit at the right front lamp unit:
- Bi-xenon light with integrated ignition module (E2e10)
- Right headlamp range adjustment motor (E2m1)
