Component Identification:
Location
The TPM [RDK] control unit is located on the left side of vehicle on the under floor in the area of the rear axle differential.
Task
^ Reading in of sensors and signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Actuating components
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in with the following connections:
^ Two-way radio
^ Engine compartment CAN (CAN C)
Two-way radio
The following sensors are read in via radio:
- Left front TPM wheel sensor (A69/1)
- Right front TPM wheel sensor (A69/2)
- Left rear TPM wheel sensor (A69/3)
- Right rear TPM wheel sensor (A69/4)
Engine compartment CAN
The TPM control unit is a subscriber on the engine compartment CAN and communicates the associated messages with the following control units:
- Instrument cluster (A1):
- Vehicle speed signal
- AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22), except code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning:
- Outside temperature from outside temperature indicator temperature sensor (B14)
- Comfort AAC control and operating unit (N22/7), with code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning:
- Outside temperature from outside temperature indicator temperature sensor
- Central gateway control unit (N93):
- Special equipment (SA) coding
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.
Component actuation
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
^ Engine compartment CAN
Engine compartment CAN
The TPM control unit is a subscriber on the engine compartment CAN and communicates the associated messages with the following control unit:
- Instrument cluster:
- Menu displays and warning messages
Design
The central antenna is integrated in the TPM control unit.
