AR41.10-P-0086-07GZ Correct Articulation Angle on Front Propeller Shaft

AR41.10-P-0086-07GZ Correct articulation angle on front propeller shaft

Modification Notes:

Check Values For Propeller Shaft Inclination Angle:

Engine Mount, Engine Support (Engine Side):

Component Identification:

The level change of the transfer case cause not only a change in the articulation angle of the front axle gear relative to the front propeller shaft (K1) and the articulation angle of the front propeller shaft relative to the transfer case (K2), but also the articulation angle of the transfer case relative to the rear propeller shaft at the front (K3) and the articulation angle of the rear propeller shaft at the front relative to the rear propeller shaft at the rear (K4). For this reason, following a correction to the articulation angle a complete check measurement must always be performed.

1 Detach reinforcement braces at left and right from transmission support (3).
2 Prop up transfer case using transmission jack and transmission platform.
3 Undo bolts for rear engine mount (2) and bolts for transmission bracket (1), then remove the transmission bracket (3).
4.1 Fabricate a transmission bracket spacer plate (6) of required thickness to match the size of the transmission bracket (3).

Where the articulation angle of the front axle gear relative to the front propeller shaft is to be greater and the articulation angle of the front propeller shaft relative to the transfer case is to be smaller.

For each 1 mm of sheet thickness, the articulation angle of the front axle gear to the front propeller shaft becomes by approx. 0.10 degrees wider, the articulation angle of the front propeller shaft to the transfer case on the other hand becomes by approx. 0.11 degrees smaller.

At a spacer plate thickness of more than 2 mm the bolt length of the transmission bracket bolts (1) must be extended by 5 mm.

If insertion plates of more than 5 mm thickness are required, the front and rear engine mounts must be checked for signs of settling or wear and replaced if necessary.

5.1 Fabricate a rear engine mount spacer plate (7) of required thickness to match the size of the transmission bracket (3).

If the inclination angle of the front axle gear relative to the front propeller shaft must be decreased and the inclination angle of the front propeller shaft relative to the transfer case must be increased.

For each 1 mm plate thickness, the articulation angle of the front axle gear relative to the front propeller shaft is reduced by approx. 0.10 degrees, whereas the articulation angle of the front propeller shaft relative to the transfer case is increased by approx. 0.11 degrees.

At a spacer plate thickness of more than 2 mm the bolt length of the rear engine mount bolts (2) must be extended by 5 mm.

If insertion plates of more than 5 mm thickness are required, the front and rear engine mounts must be checked for signs of settling or wear and replaced if necessary.

6 Insert the transmission bracket spacer plate (6) between the frame floor assembly and transmission bracket (3) or the rear engine mount spacer plate (7) between the rear engine mount and the transmission bracket (3) and install the transmission bracket (3). Tighten the transmission bracket bolts (1) and the rear engine mount bolts (2).
7 Remove transmission jack and transmission platform.
8 Install reinforcement brace at left and right.
