Reason for change Counter measure available

Complaint:
Engine diagnosis warning lamp activated - check engine light (CEL). Fault code P0456000 "Very fine leak" stored in engine control unit.

Cause:
In vehicles refueled with winter fuel at an outside temperature > 20°C, the automatic fuel tank leak test can produce an erroneous diagnosis.

The software of the automatic fuel tank leak test is too sensitive for the above parameters.

Remedy:
Process the code in SDS. Verify and repair accordingly if there is a leak in the system.

If there is no identifiable leak in the fuel system, no components may be replaced.

Update the ME software as follows:

AddOn 2475 with SDS update release 05/12

AddOn 2476 with SDS update release 07/12

AddOn 2495 with SDS update release 09/12

Note:
The ME after the update on engine M276 should have the following software:
2769023100_001 and 2769037800_001

The ME after the update on engine M278 should have the following software: 2789021600; 2789033600
