Open locking ring

1 Unlock, detach all electrical connections and fuel lines on cover (1) and set aside.
Do not kink or disconnect fuel lines. They will be damaged otherwise.
Collect any escaping fuel with an absorbent rag.
2 Use a claw-type wrench to unscrew the ring nut (2a)
Position side opening on claw wrench on the three ribs (3) of ring nut (2a) which lie close together.

Close locking ring

3 Remove threaded ring (2b) and seal (2c) and clean contact surfaces.
Do not bring any contamination into the fuel tank. Damage and malfunctions can occur otherwise.
4 Replace ring nut (2a), threaded ring (2b) and seal (2c).
5 Hold using the ring nut (2a) and insert molding (1a) of the cover (1) into the cutout (4) on threaded ring (2b).
Do not deform float linkage for the fuel level sensor. The fuel level fill level will be indicated falsely otherwise
6 Press cover (1) firmly downwards and hold in this position.
7 Screw on ring nut (2a) as far as possible by hand and tighten down using a claw wrench.
8 Put on electrical connections and fuel lines.
