GF54.65-D-4001H Reversing, Function
- with CODE (EZ8) Parktronic system (PTS)
B8/7 Right rear outer Parktronic sensor
B8/8 Right rear inner Parktronic sensor
B8/9 Left rear inner Parktronic sensor
B8/10 Left rear outer Parktronic sensor
Reversing, function
The following function conditions must be met:
- Parking brake disengaged
- Circuit 15 ON
- The selector lever is not in "P" (valid for automatic transmission 722.6 only)
- Vehicle speed is v ≤ 16 km/h
- The PTS OFF button (N72/1s9) in the OBF control unit (N72/1) is deactivated
The distance in the rear area between the vehicle and the obstacle is detected and passed on to the PTS control unit (N62). The display for the driver takes place optically via the 2 left front and right front warning indicators and acoustically via the PTS buzzer (A44/12).
The left front and right front Parktronic warning indicators are switched off as of a speed of v ≥ 18 km/h. They are activated again at a speed of v ≤16 km/h.
If the on-board power supply drops below 9 V or if the on- board power supply exceeds 16 V, then the PTS sensors in the rear bumper and the left front and right front Parktronic warning indicators are switched off by the PTS control unit.
Roll-back warning
If the vehicle without engaged reverse gear rolls back (e.g. when stopping on a hill), the PTS automatically monitors the rear end area.
If the PTS recognizes an obstacle at 80 cm distance:
- All segments in the left front and right front Parktronic warning indicators light up
- A continuous warning tone is sounded over the PTS buzzer when approaching and for another 2 s after vehicle standstill
After the ultrasonic signal is transmitted the respective sensor switches off briefly, in order to not detect the overshoot of the respective sensor membrane as a reflected signal (=obstacle) by mistake.
As a result the respective sensor is "blind" briefly, obstacles, which are very close to the respective sensor, can therefore not be detected due to the too small runtime of the sound.
