B8/4 Right front inner Parktronic sensor
B8/5 Center right front Parktronic sensor
B8/6 Right front outer Parktronic sensor
Forward travel, function
The following function conditions must be met:
- Parking brake disengaged
- Circuit 15 ON
- The selector lever is not in "P" (valid for automatic transmission 722.6 only)
- Vehicle speed is v ≤ 16 km/h
- The PTS OFF button (N72/1s9) in the OBF control unit (N72/1) is deactivated
The distance in the front area between the vehicle and the obstacle is detected and passed on to the PTS control unit (N62). The display to the driver is provided visually over the center front PTS warning element (A44/9) and acoustically over the PTS buzzer (A44/12).
When driving forwards the Parktronic System (PTS) only monitors the front area.
The center front PTS warning element is switched off from a speed of v ≥18 km/h. If the speed is v ≤ 16 km/h, the center front PTS warning element is activated again.
If the on-board voltage drops below 9 V or the on-board voltage exceeds 16 V, the sensors of the PTS in the front bumper and the center front PTS warning element are switched off by the PTS control unit.
After the ultrasonic signal is transmitted the respective sensor switches off briefly, in order to not detect the overshoot of the respective sensor membrane as a reflected signal (=obstacle) by mistake.
As a result the respective sensor is "blind" briefly, obstacles, which are very close to the respective sensor, can therefore not be detected due to the too small runtime of the sound.
