Complete description of backup camera system (RFK)
The RFK system assists the driver when parking and when backing up. With the aid of the backup camera (B84/3) the entire area surrounding the rear of the vehicle is displayed.

To enable visual monitoring of the area to the rear of the vehicle during the entire maneuvering procedure, the RFK system has a run-on time of 15 s after the reverse gear is disengaged.

A "control box" is integrated in the camera bracket. The "control box" has the following tasks:
- Process the video signal
- Ensure the 6V supply to the backup camera
- Evaluate backup lamp
- Implement run-on time of 15 s

The RFK transmits a video signal and an override signal which switches the display of the radio/radio with navigation (N87/1) or the backup camera monitor (A96) to the RFK picture.

Activation
When reverse gear is engaged, the picture from the RFK is displayed on the screen of the radio/radio with navigation or on the backup camera monitor.

The driver can switch to any other menu of the radio/radio with navigation while the RFK is active. Pressing the "Video" button switches the display back to the RFK picture.

Abort
- The RFK is not initialized or calibrated.
- The tailgate is opened.

Fault messages
If there is no signal from the RFK, there is no display.
The fault message can be read out using STAR DIAGNOSIS.

External environmental influences such as darkness, dust, fog or precipitation can restrict the functionality of the RFK.
