- TRANSMISSION 722.683
- TRANSMISSION 722.684
- TRANSMISSION 722.685
- TRANSMISSION 722.686
Removal
1 Remove torque converter (3) from transmission at the angle brackets (4).
Collect transmission oil which flows out.
2 Clean locating pin (2) and coat with thin layer of long-life grease.
Install
3 Coat output flange of torque converter (3) on the outside with long-life grease.
4 Insert torque converter (3) into transmission and turn suddenly to right and left, until the drive shaft toothing engages with the torque converter toothing (3) and is fully seated on the drive shaft.
5 Place support (1) onto torque converter (3). Measure difference in height (A) between lower edge of support (1) and the transmission flange.
Perform the measurement on the right and the left side of the transmission flange. If dimension (A) is not reached, the torque converter (3) has to be inserted again.
The specified dimension must always be observed to avoid any damage occurring to the torque converter (3) or the drive shaft when flange-mounting the transmission to the engine.
6 Turn torque converter (3) so that an angle bracket (4) points downward.
This installation position makes it easier to attach the torque converter (3) to the drive plate.
