GF27.10-D-2008H Shift-Lock, Function

GF27.10-D-2008H Shift-lock, Function
- TRANSMISSION 722.6

The term shift lock combines the functions which, in addition to the parking brake, offer an additional safeguard for the vehicle to prevent it moving off unintentionally. Included in this are the functions of locking the selector lever position "P" and locking the ignition switch as well as the park pawl in the transmission. The shift lock function only permits shifting out of selector lever position "P" when the transmitter key has been turned to position "terminal 15 ON" and the brake pedal is operated.

In order to ensure that after parking the vehicle the selector lever is shifted into selector lever position "P", the transmitter key can only be turned towards "terminal 15 C" in this position and be removed from the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) (function of ignition switch interlock). The vehicle is secured mechanically by the blocking of the park pawl gear. In the event of mechanical or electrical problems manual release of selector lever position "P" is possible (function of Shift-Lock-Override).
