GF40.15-D-0001-05HH Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM), Messages Relevant to Operation

GF40.15-D-0001-05HH Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM), Messages Relevant to Operation

Messages relevant to operation which are shown in the display (A1p1) of the instrument cluster (A1) inform the driver that the air pressure in at least one wheel is changing or has changed.

The RDK indicator lamp (A1e29) in the instrument cluster is actuated parallel to a number of warning messages.

Messages relevant to operation are stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88/1) with an event code.

Messages relevant to operation describe a regular operating condition. In the event of a complaint there is no need to exchange system components.

"Soft warning" information message

If the air pressure in one or more wheels drops > 0.25 bar below the specified pressure set by the driver and stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit, this is indicated on the display

The information message appears for the first time in the next ignition sequence. The driver is then requested to check the tire inflation pressures, if necessary to correct them and to then activate the tire pressure monitor system (RDK) again.

This information message is displayed again for 30 s after each engine start if the TPM system is not reactivated.

"Hard warning" warning message

A "hard warning" is triggered if one of the following conditions is fulfilled:
^ The tire pressure drops in one or more tires to less than 1.9 bar.
^ The tire pressure drops in one or more tires by 20 % of the inflation pressure (maximum 0.5bar).

The driver is requested to bring the vehicle to an immediate stop and to check all tires for signs of ingressed foreign objects. To restore driving safety the tire repair kit TIREFIT may need to be used.

The RDK indicator lamp in the instrument cluster is actuated parallel to the "hard warning". It does not go out until the TPM system is reactivated.

The appropriate wheel sensor must be replaced after the use of a TIREFIT tire repair kit.

Warning message "Rapid pressure loss"

"Rapid pressure loss" is detected if a pressure loss of greater than or equal to 0.2 bar is detected in one or more tires over a 60 s period.

While the vehicle is being driven, a warning message on the display of the instrument cluster informs the driver that one or more tires are defective. The driver is requested to bring the vehicle to an immediate stop and to check all tires for signs of ingressed foreign objects. To restore driving safety the tire repair kit TIREFIT may need to be used.

The RDK indicator lamp in the instrument cluster is actuated parallel to the warning message "Rapid pressure loss". It does not go out until the TPM system is reactivated.

The appropriate wheel sensor must be replaced after the use of a TIREFIT tire repair kit.

Warning message "Wheel sensor system failure"

This message is displayed when the TPM system only receives signals from 1, 2 or 3 wheel sensors instead of from all 4 wheel sensors.

"---" is shown in the display for wheel sensors that cannot be received.

This may be down to the following reasons:
^ Wheel sensor defective
^ Wheel sensor battery empty
^ Wheel sensor overtemperature
