AR32.25-W-0121-01A Check Shock Absorbers For Damage

AR32.25-W-0121-01A Check Shock Absorbers For Damage

1 Check rubber joint bearings.

The rubber joint bearing or the shock absorber must be replaced in the event of the following damage:

- The rubber joint bearing is significantly distorted or damaged.
- The fastening eye is oval.
- Bushing is no longer centered.

On some shock absorbers it is possible to replace the rubber joint bearing separately.

Check, in the parts documentation (EPC), whether the parts are available.

Rubber joint bearing not OK.
(rubber joint bearing distorted, worn out)

Rubber joint bearing not OK.
(rubber joint bearing porous, cracked)

2 Visual inspection of outer tube sleeve.

If the attachment points are out of alignment the outer tube sleeve can rub against the shock absorber's main tube (shock is under tension).

The shock absorber does not need to be replaced unless substantial amounts of paint have been scraped off. Slight paint abrasion is safe.

The vehicle must be at the vehicle level when screwing on firmly the bolted connection of the shock absorber.

Shock absorber OK.
(slight paint abrasion on the reservoir tube)

Shock absorber not OK.
(substantial paint abrasion on reservoir tube)
