Power Door Lock Control Module: Description and Operation
GF72.29-D-6000H Driver-Side Front Door Control Unit, Component Description
N69/1 Driver door control unit
Location
The driver door control unit is located in the upper area of left door inside behind the door paneling.
Task
The driver door control unit reads in the sensors, signals, operating switches and switches as well as button and switches voltage loads over semi-conductors outputs.
The driver door control unit is the "Master control unit" for the mirror heater, with code (F68) Electrically adjustable and heated left and right outside rearview mirror, on the driver and passenger door and is connected to the controller area network bus class B (interior compartment) (CAN-B).
Generally the driver door control unit controls the following systems with the attendant functions or supports the "master control units":
- Power window (PW), front
- Actuation of driver door power window motor (M10/1)
- Storing position of driver door power window motor with request (comfort closing) via air recirculation button (S98s6) integrated into the AAC operating and control unit (S98) (except code (ZU7) National version for Canada and except code (ZU8) National version for USA)
- Actuation of driver door power window motor with request (comfort opening) via air recirculation button integrated into AAC control and operating unit to previously stored position (except code (ZU7) National version for Canada and except code (ZU8) National version for USA)
- Central locking (CL [ZV])
- Actuation of driver door CL actuator (M14/6)
- Power supply for driver door IR receiver (A26/1) with code (FZ8) Comfort opening/closing with IR remote control
- Interior illumination (IBL)
Actuation of switch and controls illumination
- Exterior lights (ABL)
- Actuation of driver outside mirror turn signal lamp (M21/6e1)
- SPH, with code (F68) Heated+electrically adjustable left and right outside rearview mirrors
- Actuation of mirror heater (M21/6r1) and mirror heater (M21/7r1)
For this purpose the driver door control unit reads in the following sensors, signals, operating switches, switches and buttons:
- Driver door IR receiver unit, with code (FZ8) Comfort opening/ closing with IR remote control
- Feedback contact for driver door CL actuator
- Status of driver door CL rotary tumbler switch (M14/6s1)
- Hall signals from driver door power window motor
- Driver door control panel (S47) with integrated switches and buttons
- Driver power window button (S47s1) and front passenger power window button(S47s2)
- Left vent window button (S47s3) and right vent window button (S47s4) with code (W32) Electric rear vent window in passenger compartment
If the driver door control unit recognizes that the switch integrated into the driver door control panel is actuated for a time period of ≥ 25 s, the signal is ignored and a fault is stored. An actuation signal is not issued directly nor sent to CAN-B.
When the corresponding switch is actuated again, the driver door control unit must previously detect the park position of the respective switch or button.
In addition the driver door control unit communicates with the following control unit via CAN-B.
- With the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73)
- The driver door control unit transmits a signal such as "KB_TF_AUF (comfort feature for closing driver door control unit)"
- The driver door control unit receives a signal such as "KB_FVL (comfort feature for opening or closing left front window)"
- With the instrument cluster (A1)
- The driver door control unit receives a signal such as "KL_58D_B (brightness of instrument illumination)"
- With airbag Lowline control unit (N2/14), except code (SH6) Thorax bag for driver (in backrest), except code (SH7) thorax bag for driver and front passenger (in backrest) or except code (SH9) Window bag for driver and front passenger or with Highline airbag control unit (N2/15), with code (SH6) Thorax bag for driver (in backrest), with code (SH7) Thorax bag for driver and front passenger (in backrest) or with code (SH9) Window bag for driver and front passenger
- The driver door control unit receives a signal such as "CRASH (ARMADA crash waves)"
- With the SAM control unit (N10)
- The driver door control unit transmits a signal such as "FBF_TF (front passenger power window actuation)"
- The driver door control unit receives a signal such as "T_AUSSEN (outside air temperature)
- With the DBE control unit (N70), with code (LD0) Dome lamp with reading lights for driver/front passenger
- The driver control unit transmits a signal such as "FESTE_ST_F (driver window status)"
