GF82.10-D-2114H Xenon Headlamp Control Unit, Component Description

GF82.10-D-2114H Xenon Headlamp Control Unit, Component Description

- with CODE (LG1) Bi-xenon headlamps with cornering illumination

E1/6 Left XENON lamp unit
E1/6n1 XENON control unit
E2/6 Right XENON lamp unit
E2/6n1 XENON control unit

Location
The xenon control unit (E1/6n1) is installed in the left XENON lamp unit and the xenon control unit (E2/6n1) is installed in the right XENON lamp unit, with each being located underneath the corresponding XENON lamp unit.

Task
The following tasks are performed by the XENON control units:
- Power regulation of the xenon lamps
- Switching between low beam or high beam
- Actuation of cornering illumination

Function

Power regulation of the xenon lamps
When switching on the low beam function, the xenon control unit (E2/6n1) integrated in the right XENON lamp unit activates the ignition module with burner integrated in the right XENON lamp unit and the xenon control unit (E1/6n1) integrated in the left XENON lamp unit activates the ignition module with burner integrated in the left XENON lamp unit via a control voltage.
The respective xenon bulb is ignited via a high-voltage surge from the respective ignition module. A light arc is formed between the electrodes in this case. If a light arc of sufficient stability is detected, the control electronics of the xenon control unit (E2/6n1) integrated in the right XENON lamp unit or the control electronics of the xenon control unit (E1/6n1) integrated in the left XENON lamp unit switch to power-limiting mode.

Switching between low beam or high beam
With the low-beam function, the lower half of the light beam is masked by a screen in the left XENON lamp unit and in the right XENON lamp unit. This prevents oncoming traffic from being dazzled. When switching over to the high-beam function, the screens are moved downward so that the entire light beam of the xenon light is available.
The screen is controlled electromechanically via the xenon control unit (E2/6n1) integrated in the right XENON lamp unit and the xenon control unit (E1/6n1) integrated in the left XENON lamp unit.

Actuation of cornering illumination
The xenon control unit (E2/6n1) integrated in the right XENON lamp unit actuates the cornering illumination (E2/6e4) and the xenon control unit (E1/6n1) integrated in the left XENON lamp unit actuates the cornering illumination (E1/6e4). The request for actuating the cornering illumination lamps comes from the left and right turn signal switch (S144s1) of the combination switch (S144) or from the steering angle sensor (N80b1).
