Task
The TPM [RDK] control unit receives the information form the wheel sensors over the following paths:
- Over a high frequency (HF) line from the front tire pressure monitor antenna decoder (left front wheel sensor and right front TPM wheel sensor) (up to 31.12.2010)
- Over a radio signal path from the left front wheel sensor and the right front TPM wheel sensor (as of 1.1.2011)
- Over an HF line from the rear tire pressure monitor antenna decoder (right rear TPM wheel sensor and left rear TPM wheel sensor)
The TPM [RDK] control unit is connected to the following components via a local interconnect network (LIN):
^ Front tire pressure monitor antenna decoder (up to 31.12.2010)
^ Rear RDK decoder antenna
The front wheel sensors each send a data package over the front tire pressure monitor antenna decoder (up to 31.12.2010) to the TPM [RDK] control unit. For vehicles as of 1.1.2011 the front wheel sensors send their data packages directly per radio frequency to the receiver unit integrated in the TPM [RDK] control unit. The data packages of the rear wheel sensors are sent over the rear tire pressure monitor antenna decoder to the TPM [RDK] control unit.
These data packages are required for assigning wheel sensors after system activation.
These include the following information:
^ Tire inflation pressure
^ Tire interior temperature
^ Wheel acceleration
^ Individual sensor ID
^ Condition of sensor battery
The TPM [RDK] control unit exchanges data over the interior CAN (CAN B) with the following control units:
^ EIS [EZS] control unit
^ MRM control unit
^ Instrument cluster
The following information from other systems is processed here:
EIS [EZS] control unit
^ Diagnosis
MRM control unit
^ The front axle steering angle from the steering angle sensor (N80b1) is used together with each wheel acceleration on the rear wheels for rear-axle sensor wheel sensor localization
The following information is issued to other systems:
Instrument cluster
^ Actuation of RDK indicator lamp (A1e29)
^ The measured tire pressure, on vehicles with code (JK3) High- end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km
^ Information for messages in the display (A1p1)
