GF40.15-D-0001-04HH Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM), Messages Relevant to the Function

GF40.15-D-0001-04HH Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM), Messages Relevant to the Function

Function-relevant messages in the display (A1p1) of the instrument cluster (A1) inform the driver of the system status.

Function-relevant messages are broken down into:
^ System error(s)
^ System messages and notes

System faults are stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88/1) with a fault code and system messages with an event code.

System messages describe a regular operating condition. In the event of a complaint there is no need to exchange system components.

The following function-relevant messages may occur:

System fault(s)

This message appears for:
^ Malfunctions in Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus.
^ Malfunction of a system component.
^ The instrument cluster does not receive any CAN messages from the TPM [RDK] control unit (e.g. cable discontinuity or disconnected connector with "circuit 15 ON").

System fault messages

If a system fault message appears, a fault code is stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit.

System message

A system message can be displayed, which asks the driver to activate the system.

This system message is shown when:
^ The TPM [RDK] control unit has been exchanged.
^ A "hard warning" was displayed during previous driving.

System message

If the tire inflation pressure is changed, a tire is changed or a wheel is replaced, a system message appears on the display following system activation. This message announces that the tire pressure display can only be displayed after a few minutes.

The system can be activated with "Circuit 15 ON" or when the engine is running.

System message

If the tire pressure monitoring system is unavailable and this is indicated via the display, the following criteria must be observed:
^ At least one new wheel sensor has been fitted and is currently undergoing teach-in
^ External jamming transmitter prevents data transfer

Information message

The pressure values are only shown following activation, once the tire pressure monitoring (TPM) system has detected a clear assignment. Until the teach-in process is complete, an information message is displayed instead of the pressure values.

This information message cannot be canceled using the Reset (A1s2) button. Pressing the Reset button restarts the activation.

Information message concerning circuit 15

If the transmitter key (A8/1) is not set to "circuit 15 ON", an information message appears in the display. This message announces that the tire pressure display will only be available when circuit 15 is "ON".
