GF54.50-D-2007H Fuel Consumption, Function
- with CODE (CL4) Multifunction steering wheel with trip computer
Since start
Average fuel consumption since start
The trip computer (RRE) allows the average fuel consumption to be displayed.
The display is active as from position 2 (circuit 15 ON) of the transmitter key when the TRIP menu item is called up.
After the "Trip computer" menu has been activated using the system selection button (S111s3) on the multifunction steering wheel (MFL), the average fuel consumption "Since start" is shown on the multifunction display of the instrument cluster (A1) by pressing the scroll forward/back button (S111s1) on the MFL. The trip computer determines the average fuel consumption from the distance traveled and the calculated fuel consumption. The instrument cluster receives this data in the following way:
- The value of the calculated fuel consumption is placed on the Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) in the form of a message by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/23), with engine 272, by the CDI control unit (N3/20), with engine 642, or by the CDI control unit (N3/21), with engine 646.
- The travel distance covered is determined from the 4 wheel speeds. The signals are placed on the CAN-C by the ESP control unit (N30/4).
Different values may be displayed in the display screen of the short distance memory and in the display screen of the long distance memory, as both displays access different data records.
The short distance memory display basically reacts more sensitively to the current driving situation than the long distance memory display.
Once the memory has been reset there is not sufficient data available to calculate the fuel consumption correctly To overcome this, a value calculated on the basis of the vehicle-specific consumption is displayed in the instrument cluster during this time. Actual current fuel consumption may vary from the figure indicated. The maximum available display is 40 l/100 km.
If the transmitter key is at position 0 (circuit 15C) or the transmitter key has been removed, all values in the short-distance memory are reset after 4 hours.
