Left turn signal indicator lamp and right turn signal indicator lamp
These are activated differently according to function:
- When giving turn signals, either the left turn signal indicator lamp or the right turn signal indicator lamp is actuated by the instrument cluster (A1). The signal for actuating the left turn signal indicator lamp or right turn signal indicator lamp is placed on the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B) by the SAM control unit (N10). If one of the turn signal lamps fails, the left turn signal indicator lamp or right turn signal indicator lamp is actuated at twice the frequency.
- When the hazard warning flashers are operated, the left turn signal indicator lamp and right turn signal indicator lamp are always actuated by the instrument cluster.
High beam indicator lamp
The high beam indicator lamp lights up when the high beam is switched on. The signal for actuating the high beam indicator lamp comes from the SAM control unit via CAN-B.
Seat belt warning lamp
The seat belt warning lamp does light up during the check performed when the ignition is switched on. After the ignition has been switched on the lamp lights up for 6 seconds as a reminder.
The seat belt warning lamp also lights up if the circuit status is "circuit 61 ON", the vehicle speed is >25 km/h and the driver seat belt buckle switch (S68/1) is not closed. The seat belt warning lamp goes out as soon as the driver seat belt buckle switch is closed.
The signal for actuating the seat belt warning lamp comes from the lowline airbag control unit (N2/14) or the highline airbag control unit (N2/15) via CAN-B.
Parking brake indicator lamp
The parking brake warning lamp remains lit until the parking brake is released. The signal for actuating the parking brake warning lamp comes from the SAM control unit via CAN-B.
Low beam indicator lamp
The low beam indicator lamp lights up when the low beam is switched on. The signal for actuating the low beam indicator lamp comes from the SAM control unit via CAN-B.
Preglow indicator lamp with engine 642 or with engine 646
The preglow indicator lamp is actuated with "circuit 15 ON" until the preheating time has expired. The signal for actuating the preglow indicator lamp comes from the CDI control unit (N3/20) or the CDI control unit (N3/21) via the Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C).
ESP indicator lamp
The ESP indicator lamp is actuated if there are malfunctions in the electronic stability program (ESP). The signal for actuating the ESP indicator lamp comes from the ESP control unit (N30/4) via CAN-C.
Traction warning indicator lamp
The traction warning indicator lamp is actuated when the ESP intervenes in the driving situation.
The signal for actuating the traction warning indicator lamp comes from the ESP control unit via CAN-C.
ABS indicator lamp
The ABS indicator lamp is actuated if there is a fault in the antilock brake system (ABS). The actuating signal comes from the ESP control unit via CAN-C.
EOBD indicator lamp
The EOBD indicator lamp is actuated if there is a fault in the injection system, the ignition system or the exhaust system. The signal for actuating the EOBD indicator lamp comes from the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/23), the CDI control unit (N3/20) or the CDI control unit (N3/21) via CAN-C.
Brake fluid level warning lamp
If the brake fluid level falls below the minimum level, the brake fluid level warning lamp is actuated. The actuating signal comes from the SAM control unit via CAN-B.
SRS warning lamp
The SRS warning lamp is actuated if there is a fault in the supplemental restraint system (SRS). The signal for actuating the SRS warning lamp comes from the lowline airbag control unit or the highline airbag control unit via CAN-B.
Fuel reserve indicator lamp
The fuel reserve indicator lamp is actuated as soon as the reserve range is reached. Its actuation is linked to the fuel level and reserve indicator.
There are various versions of the instrument cluster which depend on the vehicle equipment, equipment lines and engine type.
With some indicator and warning lamps, a fault message is also shown on the instrument cluster display when the lamps are actuated.
