Location
The front heater housing is located centrally under the instrument panel.

Task
The front heater housing serves to distribute the fresh air or recirculated air required for ventilation of the vehicle to the respective air ducts and air outlet nozzles depending on the temperature set (front temperature selection switch) and the air distribution (air distribution switch) in the vehicle interior on the AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (S98).

Design
The front heater housing consists of the following parts and flaps:
- Front and rear intake housing
- Left and right distributor housing
- Lower and upper air-flow housing
- Fresh air and recirculated air housing
- Front heater heat exchanger
- Defroster flap
- Footwell flap
- Mixed air and lock-up valve
- Fresh air and air recirculation flap

The front heater housing also houses the air duct of the front blower box to the front heater housing and the front blower box.
