GF42.45-D-3700H ESP Control Mode, Function

The ESP control unit (N30/4) evaluates information from the following components:

^ Yaw rate, lateral and longitudinal acceleration sensor (B24/15B24/)
^ Left front rpm sensor (L6/1)
^ Right front rpm sensor (L6/2)
^ Left rear rpm sensor (L6/3)
^ Right rear rpm sensor (L6/4)
^ Steering angle sensor (N80b1)
^ ASR OFF button (N72/1s5)

If oversteer or understeer is detected by the ESP control unit, a calculated intervention by the brake system is carried out at the front or rear axle via the traction system hydraulic unit. This intervention by the brake system specifically counteracts undesirable handling characteristics.

In addition in case of requirement amongst others the engine torque can be increased or reduced upon request from the ESP control unit.

On vehicles with transmission 722.6 upon request from the ESP control unit the power flow between the automatic transmission (AG) and the respective drive axles can be interrupted.

Via the ASR OFF button the Electronic Stability Program (Electronic-Stability-Program) (ESP) and Acceleration slip regulation (ASR) can be switched off up to a speed of 60 km/h. This is displayed by the ESP indicator lamp coming on permanently (A1e14) in the instrument cluster (A1). However if the vehicle is in a critical driving condition, the ESP and ASR are activated again automatically by the ESP control unit and the vehicle is stabilized.
