GF42.35-D-0001H Electronic Traction System (ETS), Function

GF42.35-D-0001H Electronic Traction System (ETS), Function

- with CODE (ZG1) Engageable all-wheel drive

- with CODE (ZG2) Permanent all-wheel drive

- with CODE (ZG3) Gear reduction for all-wheel drive

- with CODE (ZG4) Permanent all-wheel drive with gear reduction

The electronic traction system (ETS) simulates the functions of the manual interwheel differential locks and interaxle differential locks on all-wheel drive vehicles via specific interventions by the brake system at one or more drive wheels. It makes possible maximum available traction, by braking the individual spinning wheels and as a result, simultaneously increasing drive torque on the other drive wheels, and also improving the directional stability and road adhesion of the vehicle.

The ESP control unit (N30/4) evaluates the signals from the following sensors:

^ Left front rpm sensor (L6/1)
^ Right front rpm sensor (L6/2)
^ Left rear rpm sensor (L6/3)
^ Right rear rpm sensor (L6/4)

The solenoid valves in the traction system hydraulic unit are actuated by the ESP control unit for specific interventions in the brake system at one or more drive wheels.
