Location

The front tilting/sliding roof motor is located on the front tilting/sliding roof above the DBE control unit (N70) in the roof of the driver compartment.

Task

The front tilting/sliding roof motor is responsible for the drive of the front tilting/sliding roof.

Design

The front tilting/sliding roof motor consists of a DC motor with integrated front tilting/sliding roof Hall sensor (M12b1), front tilting/ sliding roof Hall sensor (M12b2) and thermal protection switch.


Function

The direction of rotation of the front tilting/sliding roof motor in the front tilting/sliding roof is defined by the polarity of the actuation voltage of the DBE control unit ()

The actuation voltage polarity is controlled by a twin-coil relay (center-zero relay with park position).

The direction of rotation and lock-up recognition of the front tilting/ sliding roof motor are recognized by the front tilting/sliding roof Hall sensors.

A thermal protection switch is integrated into the front tilting/sliding roof motor to protect against overload.
