In order to operate the tachograph (A56), the following function requirements must be met. These include:
- Vehicle is stationary
- Circuit 15 ON
Using the buttons integrated in the tachograph, driver 1 and driver 2 can operate the tachograph and make the following settings or queries:
- Insert or remove tachograph disk(s)
- Set time groups for driver 1 and driver 2
- Set time
- Display fault memory
The following settings or inquiries can also be made for the service area:
- Information, UTC, status
- Programming data
- Beginning and end of daylight saving time
- Speed pulse simulation (v-pulse simulation)
Inserting or removing tachograph disk(s)
Pressing the "Unlock drawer" button on the tachograph unlocks the tachograph drawer and the "Ejection active" display appears on the tachograph display. In addition, several progress bars are shown on the tachograph display. They inform the driver that this procedure takes a certain amount of time. The drawer can then be pulled out and the tachograph disk(s) can be inserted or removed. The drawer is closed again by pushing it in until it engages.
Setting time groups for driver 1 and driver 2
By pressing the "Time group settings for driver 1" button on the tachograph, driver 1 can set the respective time group.
By pressing the "Time group settings for driver 2" button on the tachograph, driver 2 can set the respective time group. One of the following time groups can be set for the respective driver:
- Wheel time
- Other working hours
- Standby times (waiting times, co-driver periods, bunk time during journey for driver 2)
- Break and idle periods
The relevant legal regulations must be observed when making settings on the tachograph.
Adjust time
The current time can be adjusted via the "Set time" menu by pressing the Menu button, Plus button or Minus button on the tachograph.
Display fault memory
One or more faults can be displayed via the "Fault memory" menu by pressing the Menu button, Plus button or Minus button on the tachograph.
Information, UTC, status
The "Information, UTC, status" menu can be displayed by pressing the Menu button on the tachograph three times. Long actuation of the Menu button on the tachograph causes the tachograph display to switch back to the basic display.
Programming data
The "Programming data" menu can be displayed by pressing the Menu button on the tachograph four times. The Plus button and Minus button on the tachograph are used to scroll through the "Programming data" menu. Long actuation of the Menu button on the tachograph causes the tachograph display to switch back to the basic display.
Beginning and end of daylight saving time
The "Beginning and end of daylight saving time" menu can be displayed by pressing the Menu button on the tachograph five times. The Plus button and Minus button on the tachograph are used to scroll through the "Beginning and end of daylight saving time" menu.
Long actuation of the Menu button on the tachograph causes the tachograph display to switch back to the basic display.
Speed pulse simulation (v-pulse simulation)
The "v-pulse simulation" menu can be displayed by pressing the Menu button on the tachograph six times. Long actuation of the Menu button on the tachograph causes the tachograph display to switch back to the basic display.
