GF54.25-D-4202HA Combination Switch, Component Description

- with CODE (W78) Window in tailgate or hinged rear door with wipe/wash system

S144 Combination switch

Location
The combination switch is located on the left of the steering column.

Task
The combination switch actuates the following systems:
- Windshield wiper system
- Rear window wiper system
- Left or right turn signal
- High beam
- Headlight flasher

Design
The combination switch incorporates the left and right turn signal switch (S144s1), the headlamp flasher/high beam switch (S144s2), the windshield washer system switch (S144s3), the wipe switch (S144s4) and the rear wiper switch (S144s5).

Function

Left and right turn signal switch
The left and right turn signal switch has 3 positions:
- Flashing off
- Left turn signal
- Right turn signal

Pushing the left and right turn signal switch down activates the "turn signal left" function. Pushing the left and right turn signal switch up activates the "turn signal right" function. If the left and right turn signal switch is at the center position, the "turn signal left" and "turn signal right" functions are deactivated.
Briefly pushing the left and right turn signal switch down activates the "one-touch turn signaling left" function. Briefly pushing the left and right turn signal switch up activates the "one-touch turn signaling right" function.
When the one-touch turn signaling function is operated, the turn signal system is actuated 3 times.

Headlamp flasher/high beam switch
Moving the headlamp flasher/high beam switch to the engaged position connects circuit 15R to circuit 56a, thereby activating the "high beam" function until the headlamp flasher/high beam switch is moved back to the starting position.
Pulling and holding the headlamp flasher/high beam switch connects circuit 15R to circuit 56a, thereby activating the "headlamp flasher" function until the headlamp flasher/high beam switch is released again.
With the "high beam" and "headlamp flasher" function, the high beam (E1e1) and the high beam (E2e1) are actuated via the SAM control unit (N10).

Windshield

Windshield washer system switch
Moving the windshield washer system switch up to the actuation point activates the "windshield touch wiping" function without window washer fluid. If the windshield washer system switch is moved beyond the actuation point, the "windshield washer" function is activated.

Wipe switch
Turning the wipe switch to position "1" activates the "windshield intermittent wipe" function.
Turning the wipe switch to position "2" activates the "normal wipe" function.
Turning the wipe switch to position "3" activates the "rapid wipe" function.
Turning the wipe switch to position "0" activates the windshield wiper system.

Rear window
The rear wiper switch has 4 positions:
- One-touch washing (up)
- Zero position
- Intermittent wipe
- One-touch washing (down)

Turning the rear wiper switch in the combination switch up out of the "zero position" activates the "wash" function until the switch is released, and starts the "wipe" function.
Turning the rear wiper switch in the combination switch down once out of the "zero position" activates the "intermittent wipe" function. Turning the rear wiper switch in the combination switch down once out of the "intermittent wipe" position activates the "wash" function until the switch is released, and starts the "wipe" function.

The signals from the left and right turn signal switch, headlamp flasher/high beam switch, windshield washer system switch, wipe switch and rear wiper switch integrated in the combination switch are read in via the MRM control unit (N80) and passed on to the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B).
