GF82.30-D-3004H Windshield Wiper, Function

GF82.30-D-3004H Windshield Wiper, Function

The windshield wiper system (WSA) is ready for operation as from "circuit 15R ON".
The "normal wipe" function of the windshield WSA is activated using the wipe switch (S144s4) integrated in the combination switch (S144) in position "2".
The "fast wipe" function of the windshield WSA is activated using the wipe switch integrated in the combination switch in position "3".
The windshield WSA is deactivated using the wipe switch integrated in the combination switch in position "0".
In addition, briefly pressing the windshield washer system switch (S144s3) integrated in the combination switch, the "touch wiping" function can be activated without window washer fluid.

The combination switch signals are read in over the MRM control unit (N80) and forwarded to the Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B). The SAM control unit (N10) reads in these signals and actuates over the front windshield wiper relay and stage 1+2 front windshield wiper relay (K40/9k2) the windshield wiper motor (M6/1).

If the wipe switch integrated in the combination switch is in position "1", "windshield intermittent wipe" function, in position "2", "normal wipe" function or in position "3", "fast wipe" function, then the "touch wiping" function cannot be activated using the windshield washer system switch.

Speed reduction on vehicles except code (JA5) Light/rain sensor
If the vehicle speed drops below 5 km/h, the activated windshield WSA is automatically switched to the next lower position. If the vehicle speed increases again above 8 km/h, the activated windshield WSA is switched back to the previous position.

Speed reduction on vehicles with code (JA5) Light/rain sensor
If the vehicle speed drops below 5 km/h, the activated windshield WSA is automatically switched to the next lower position. In position "2", "normal wipe" function, and in position "3", "fast wipe" function, the interval time is always continuously determined by the rain/light sensor (B38/2).
If the vehicle speed increases again above 8 km/h, the activated windshield WSA is switched back to the previous position.

If the rain/light sensor is defective, the windshield WSA is actuated as on vehicles except code (JA5) Light/rain sensor.

Park position
With "circuit 15R OFF", the front wipers remain in their current position. If the status "circuit 15R ON" is activated again, then the front wipers are moved back to their park positions (completion of wiping).

The "windshield wash" function has priority over the activated "windshield wipe" function, which is set forth following termination of the "windshield wash" function. With the "windshield intermittent wipe" function, the interval window is reset to "0".

Startup suppression
On vehicles with code (JA5) Light/rain sensor, startup suppression of the front wipers is performed under the following conditions to preserve the windshield WSA:
- Circuit 15R ON
- v = 0 km/h
- Measured outside temperature < +4 °C

Deactivation of the startup suppression takes place if one of the following conditions is met:
- v > 0 km/h
- Combination switch is actuated

Deactivation of the startup suppression is active until the next change in status "circuit 15R OFF".

Blockage detection function
The SAM control unit detects over circuit 31B any blocking of the windshield wiper motor. A blockage of the windshield wiper motor is detected under the following conditions:
- Park position not exited after t = 4 s.
- Park position not reached after t = 12 s.
- Park position not reached after t = 12 s, in position "3", "fast wipe" function, after 1st request. At the 2nd request, the blockage detection is deactivated (emergency operation) within one driving cycle.

When a blockage is detected, the windshield wiper motor is deactivated. If the combination switch is operated again or if status "circuit 15R ON" is activated with the combination switch in position "2", "normal wipe" function, or in position "3", "fast wipe" function, then another attempt is made to switch on the windshield wiper motor over the SAM control unit.
