1 Screw
2 Cylindrical roller bearing
3 Reverse gear
4 Thrust plate
5 Reverse idler shaft
6 Bearing shell
7 Rear section of transmission housing

Removing

1 Unscrew bolt (1).
2 Remove bearing shell (6).
3 Remove thrust plate (4), reverse gear (3) and cylindrical roller bearing (2).
4 Pull out reverse idler shaft (5).
5 Check all components for damage and wear and replace defective components.

Install

6 Insert reverse idler shaft (5)
7 Insert bolt (1) and align threaded hole of reverse idler shaft (5) with the bolt (1).
8 Pull out bolt (1) again.
9 Oil reverse idler shaft (5), cylindrical roller bearing (2) and thrust plate (4) lightly with automatic transmission fluid.
10 Slide cylindrical roller bearing (2), reverse gear (3) and thrust plate (4) onto the reverse idler shaft (5).

Transmission 711.68: The groove on the reverse gear (3) must face towards the drive side.

11 Install bearing shell (6) and tighten with bolt (1),

Replace self-locking bolt (1).

The inscription on the bearing shell (6) must point toward the drive side.
