S16/2 Reversing lamp switch

Location

The backup lamp switch is integrated in the switching unit which is located centrally in the instrument panel under the OBF control unit (N72/1).

Function

When reverse gear is engaged the shift lever knob presses the contact pin of the backup lamp switch in the switching unit backwards. The backup lamp switch is designed as a normally open contact, i.e. by operating the contact pin a contact is closed in the backup lamp switch and a voltage drop is produced.

The SAM control unit (N10) detects this voltage drop and places a signal on the Control Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN B). The left backup lamp (E3e3) and right backup lamp (E4e3) are actuated simultaneously via a discrete line.
