When installing the propeller shaft the joining arrows must be aligned and point towards the frame floor assembly. Tighten the propeller shaft in this position. This also applies to unilateral installation on the transmission or rear axle.

Model 901, 902, 903, 904, 905 with
Code ZG1 All-wheel drive, engageable,
Code ZG2 Permanent all-wheel drive or
Code ZG3 All-wheel drive gear reduction:


When mounting the propeller shafts to the transfer case, it must also be ensured that the punch mark on the outer circumference of the flange (transfer case) is set to the highest possible position.

Model 906 with
Code ZG1 all-wheel drive, engageable,
Code ZG2 Permanent all-wheel drive,
Code ZG3 All-wheel drive gear reduction, or
Code ZG4 Permanent all-wheel drive with gear reduction:


When installing the propeller shaft at the front axle make sure that the punch mark is on the outer periphery of the flanges and that the green markings on the propeller shaft point upwards.

The punch marks on the flanges and the green markings on the propeller shaft should be as close as possible together.

When tightening, press the shim plates towards the inside (towards the center of the shaft).

Until production 10/2010

The front of the propeller shaft is marked with a "V" on the pivot bushing.

As of production 10/2010

The front of the propeller shaft is marked with a Mercedes-Benz logo adhesive label.
