Perform following operation step only for propeller shaft center support bearing version with protective caps.

1 Drive protective cap (4) using drift 906 589 00 15 00 onto flange (3).

Note installation position of protective cap (4).





2 Press on propeller shaft center support bearing (2) flush with flange (3) using drift 711 589 01 15 00.

In order to avoid damage, support flange with wood or plastic. Make sure when removing a propeller shaft center support bearing with shim (5) that the new propeller shaft center support bearing is also installed with a shim. If this is not observed humming, droning and starting noise may be heard.





3 Transfer punch mark (arrow) from old flange (3) to new flange (9).

Only perform this operation step if the flange was not replaced. Note flange position, because the punch mark is used for the marriage of the propeller shaft and flange as well as making installation easier.





Perform the following two steps only for the propeller shaft center support bearing version with protective caps, if the protective cap (6) was removed.

4 Clamp propeller shaft onto rigid part of universal joint in vise.

5 Drive protective cap (6) using drift 906 589 02 15 00 up to end stop on propeller shaft (7).

Note installation position of protective cap (6).
