GF27.51-D-5106H Freewheel, Component Description
- TRANSMISSION 722.6

3 Intermediate shaft
8 Stator shaft
12 Outer race
13 Inner race
14 Sprag
15 Sprag cage
27 Overrunning clutch F1
28 Overrunning clutch F2
29/1 Front sun gear
31/1 Rear sun gear

Location

In the front planetary gear set the freewheel F1 is installed between the front sun gear and the stator shaft and in the rear planetary gear set the freewheel F2 is installed between the rear sun gear and the intermediate shaft.

Task

Individual shifts are optimized with the aid of a freewheel. It supports individual elements of a planetary gear set in a particular direction of rotation against each other or against the transmission housing and thus enables torque transmission.

Design

The freewheels consist of an outer race, an inner race, several sprags and a sprag cage.

12 Outer race
13 Inner race
14 Sprag
15 Sprag cage
29/1 Front sun gear
31/1 Rear sun gear

A Direction of rotation "A"
B Direction of "B"

Function

If the inner race of the freewheel is fixed and the outer race moves in the direction of rotation "A", then the sprags assume an inclined position due to their special contour and enable a freewheel function. The outer race slides over the sprags.

If the direction of the outer race changes in the direction of rotation "B", then the sprags move up and connect the outer and inner race with each other in a locking function.
