GF27.50-D-2100H Planetary Gear Set Component Description
- TRANSMISSION 722.6
1 Ring gear
2 Planetary gear
3 Sun gear
4 Planet carrier
29 Front planetary gear set
30 Center planetary gear set
31 Rear planetary gear set
Location
3 planetary gear sets are used to achieve the individual transmission ratios. These are located in the mechanical part of the transmission 722.6 as front, center and rear planetary gear set.
Task
The planetary gear sets serve power flow and the formation of different gear ratios.
Design
A planetary gear set consists of the ring gear, the planetary gears supported on bearings in the planet carrier and the sun gear.
1 Ring gear
2 Planetary gear
3 Sun gear
4 Planet carrier
Function
The ring gear and sun gear components of a planetary gear set are alternately driven or stalled via the shift elements multidisk clutch and multidisk brake. In the process the planetary gears can roll on the inner internal toothing of the ring gear and on the outer toothing of the sun gear. This allows for a variety of gear ratios and the reversal of the rotation direction without the need for moving gear wheels or shift collars.
The torque and engine speed are converted according to the lever ratios or the ratio of the number of teeth on the driven gears to that on the drive gears, and is referred to as the gear ratio i. With several planetary gear sets connected behind each other the overall ratio is given by the multiplication of part ratios.
If 2 components of the planetary gear set are connected rigidly with one another, the planetary gear set is locked and turns as a closed unit.
Advantages of a planetary gear set
^ Shifting ability under load
^ Several ratios can be produced
^ Constant meshing of the gears
^ Simple direction reversal
^ High efficiency
^ Coaxial location of input and output
^ Compact design
There are always the following ratio options:
^ Sun gear locked
Internal gear driving
Planet carrier driven
Relatively low step-down ratio.
^ Internal gear locked
Sun gear driving
Planet carrier driven
Relatively high step-down ratio.
^ Blocking of two elements with each other, so that the planetary gear set rotates as a unit and direct power flow results (i = 1).
^ Planet carrier held
Sun gear driving
Internal gear driven
Direction reversal and step-down ratio.
