SI54.61-W-0016A Service Information Bulletin: Technical And Legal Requirements For Working On Digital Recording Equipment
Mercedes-Benz has currently approved three sets of digital recording equipment produced by Actia, Stoneridge and Siemens VDO.
The fundamental preconditions for working on this digital recording equipment differ from country to country due to the respective national legislation. However the following two items are essential for this:
1. A workshop with the necessary equipment capable of working on recording equipment.
2. A qualified employee employed in this workshop with a valid, personalized workshop card.
In the majority of EU countries the qualifications for working on recording equipment for all makes. In Spain, Italy and Slovenia (maybe also in Greece, legislation is being prepared) a special qualification is necessary for each type of recording equipment.
In these countries please obtain the exact information from the national legislation or documents which you have received in the course of your training on digital recording equipment.
Please observe that all three makes are fitted in Mercedes-Benz vehicles and your workshop should be prepared because of this.
The following testing units are currently available:
- MK2 Programmer from Stoneridge Electronics
- ATC/MTC from Siemens VDO
- UTP 10 from Actia
Using these testers you can calibrate the recording equipment from Siemens VDO, Stoneridge and Actia without additional software and hardware. In other words no additional equipment is required for the types of recording equipment approved by Mercedes-Benz.
